Well, for the first time I thought this subject will be a touch and go subject since the contents of the subject learn are quite vague. According to my experience in the class, Mr. Ford Lumban Gaol, the Software Engineering lecturer, has a hard time in making clear of his explanation. In fact, the class was so boring, that more than half of the students including me were not listening, dozing off, or perhaps playing games.
Mr. Ford limited ability in expressing proper English also become a hindrance for us in understanding the subject thoroughly. Therefore, I have to occassionally launch questions to him to clarify his explanation. When the 7th semester almost finished and the deadline of OFSE selection is on the clock, I decided to take on the Software Engineering. I consider this decision because Software Engineering is a much more a common sense subject which shares quite the same theme as Project Management. Therefore, I picked Software Engineering as my final optional selection in participating OFSE.
I never held my hope high in this particular subject and only hope to barely pass with a minimum score of 70. That is until the time when Mr. Ford send me a sms, offering us for a tutorial session in Software Engineering. In the tutorial class, we were handed out the study guide for Software Engineering OFSE along with the hint of the answers.
The Software Engineering OFSE was pretty much the same as the content of the study guide that was handed by Mr. Ford and the answers are pretty much common sense answers. There are a total of 16 participants in the Software Engineering OFSE with only 1 person regretting that he had chosen that particular subject (He passed the Software Engineering OFSE though). A lot of Software Engineering OFSE participant got an A mark. In fact, 100 is not an impossible score to achieve in this particular subject.
My advice to conquer this subject is to read a lot of Software Engineering terms since Mr. Ford likes fancy term. Be confident about your answers and always relate or give example in the reality world when necessary. Overall, it’s an easy subject to master. The challenging part might be the study case part when you have to design a system using diagrams.
So, here’s the study guide that Mr. Ford handed to us along with my suggested answers (this answers have been revised by Mr. Ford with an additional comment “This is a grade A answer”). Enjoy!
