Beat of the Day: Coldplay – Yellow

31 01 2011

I was planning to post something yesterday after I came back from shopping in the mall with my friends but…I don’t know, I just didn’t. Think I was too hyper to calm myself, sit down, have a cup of hot chocolate and type up something. No thanks to my brother (again), I was listening to the Japanese theme of Granturismo (Moon Over The Castle) for all the Jap versions from GT 1-5. I don’t remember what else I did, for now.

Oh, before I forget, if I have time to write in an extra post or another author has the time to, I want to wish a very special totally forgotten (well, I forgot it, at least) anniversary to Megurine Luka of Vocaloid 2. Luka is the 03 project from Crypton’s Vocaloid 2. So, yea.

Anyway, this song is an english song – I know, yes, but it’s very relaxing to hear. It’s a rock band arrange song but it has a very sweet tone and easy to hear. It’s alternative rock, I believe. Coldplay is a known english rock band formed in London, England, that made the hit song “Viva La Vida”, which could still be heard today on modern radio stations. This song, Yellow, is from their earlier album Parachutes, which was released around 2000. Yellow was the only song that was a single hit song, I think.

Since today is Monday, and usually Mondays are the most “boringest” day of my life, here I am, sipping some hot tea while typing out a post. Today is a special no school day in my life, but I have to get ready for tomorrow. By the way, anyone going to hate their semester 2 for high school? Cause I have English, Math and French all in my timetable. So…I’ll leave this for now. Enjoy the song and hopefully, a life that ain’t as messed up as mine. :(

This request is from Renzo for Isurugi Mio Rainmeter skin. I think she is from MM! if I’m not mistaken. After doing her (Ooo, insert inline joke here!), I think it’s not appropriate not to do Sado Tarou. Who knows, maybe I would do her in a short time.

It seems that the google chrome themes I made mostly came from either Touhou or Durarara! So far, the pictures that fits the requirements have been from that series. I need to think to vary them a little bit more. Anyway, time for a pic hunt then.

Jon Stewart: The Man Who Made The Difference

30 01 2011

I would like to address this blog to Jon Stewart, a man who is a hero and has been inspiring for his views in politics. Although he is a comedian who does his shows in The Daily Show, Jon Stewart is a prolific commentator when it comes to politics.

One of the shows that made me in aw of his ability to move people was on the last show in 2010 when he addresses the Zadroga bill. If you don’t know what Zadroga bill is, it is a bill to give the 9/11 responders a health benefit in case of any illness regarding to the help they give in 9/11. It is named after an NYPD police who died of lung cancer on 2006 because he inhaled to much toxic during the WTC fall down.

The Zadroga bill was held up by the republicans or as they say “Filibustering” and to put a shame more to it, they are prioritizing the Tax cuts for the upper 200,000 dollars earners. Be reminded that if the Zadroga bill were put in a up or down vote, this bill will definitely win. But I guess, the Republicans won’t have it that way, since helping those heroes will cost a fortune.

The crazy thing is that the Democrats proposed a financing plan to cover the Zadroga bill by closing tax loophole for foreign companies which then again denied by the Republicans. A shame but however, I will not discuss my politic view even more, let’s just focus on Jon Stewart.

So, Jon Stewart was very angry and decided his last show of the year to be covered on the Zadroga bill. Amazingly, his effort was heard and the Zadroga bill was passed. Not only that, the top mainstream media was backing up Stewart’s complain even the news media who is the centre of Republicans endorsement, Fox News, finally cover the story up after shutting the hell up until Jon Stewart take a stand.

Jon Stewart makes the difference and it is this kind of free speech that I love to happen which made an impact to a greater good. Jon Stewart and the writers of The Daily Show can’t get enough credit for what they have done and congratulation for making their heroes appreciated for what they’ve done to save innocent lives.

Ronde of Possible World by Hatsune Miku

30 01 2011

Masataka is one of the best directors in arranging Hatsune Miku music video. He uses MMD and his commitment to detail is a top-notch in quality. I like this video clip very much partly because of the well visualized Hatsune Miku’s emotion.

Chaining Intention by Hatsune Miku PV

Here is one of my favourite songs from Hatsune Miku. Partly from that, the music video is also awesome and by the sound of the piano I get the feeling of a Shin Megami Tensei theme song.

Series of Random Game Reviews Posts Part 2 – Valkyria Chronicles

28 01 2011

Hello again~

Another review while still waiting.

This game is called Valkyria Chronicles, It is a turn-based game but has a very interesting way of doing things. I will explain later in gameplay =)

Story: The Story takes place on the continent of Europa which is dominated by two superpowers: The Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance in the east and a commonwealth of loosely allied democracies known as the Atlantic Federation in the west. The economies of both superpowers depend on a precious multi-purpose mineral called Ragnite. Due to its growing scarcity it results in the Empire declaring war on the Federation, sparking the Second Europan War. The Empire uses its military superiority to put the Federation on the defensive. While they had the advantage, the Empire decides to invade the neutral country known as Gallia to seize its rich Ragnite deposits. As far as story, it can be closely related to World War II. When Imperial forces launch an attack on the Gallian border town of Bruhl, Welkin Gunther, son of late Gallian hero General Belgen Gunther, is forced to fight for his life alongside the town captain, Alicia Melchiott. Together with Welkin’s adopted sister Isara and using Belgen’s prototype tank from the first war, the Edelweiss, they escape to Gallia’s capital, Randgriz, and join the country’s militia forces.

Gameplay: As said from before, Valkyria Chronicles is a turn-based game. However it gets really interesting when twisting third person action into it! The gameplay is called Battle of Live Tactical Zones, or BLiTZ for short. During the players turn it views an overhead map that shows all your troops known as Command Mode, but when you select a character it zooms in to control that character on the battlefield in Action Mode.  Movement and other actions are handled in real time during Action Mode, however you are also limited in movement by an AP gauge that varies for each type of character. There are six classes in the game and they are scout, shock troopers, lancers, engineers, snipers, and tank commander (which is Welkin Gunther). In a way, a rock, paper, scissors way is formed. Each class has weaknesses that other classes can use to take them down. A factor in this game is environment and a heavy one. Snipers can be sent onto rooftops to take out unsuspecting enemies below. Tanks can knock down obstacles to open new paths. Buildings and other structures bring cover to move about. Tall grass adds a slight camouflage  to reduce the chance of being spotted by the enemy and to reduce their chance to hit you when seen. As you advance across the battlefield, control points can be captured, which give the player a tactical advantage and give additional locations in which to call reinforcements. As Welkin, the player can issue various Orders for the purpose of things such as artillery strikes, supervising medics, and improving morale. Another part of the game is the character death system. If a character is K.O.ed on the field of battle, you have three turns to rescue them. If not, they die and are permanently removed. Another bad note on this is that enemies can instantly kill K.O.ed characters if they touch them before you can reach them.

Overall, this game is great, the graphics are very beautiful using the CANVAS graphics engine. The use of a warm color palette took emphasis away from the realistic nature of war. It is like water-color art. It is just pretty ^_^

Along with the graphics the story got me hooked. It is very  While there is an anime release of Valkyria Chronicles, I believe the game tells the story because you get to play through and find out what happens~ It really is a shame that the sequels to this game were released for the PSP… One of the reasons (if I can recall) is because of the lack of popularity I would have to say. IGN says it was one of the best but ignored games… I agree with them >_<;

Anyways~ below is a trailer, Hope everyone enjoys it =)

Series of Random Game Reviews Posts Part 1 – Demon’s Soul

28 01 2011

Hello everyone~

I am still waiting for an album to arrive so meanwhile I decided to post a review of games that I have played through.

This game is for the Playstation 3 and it is called Demon’s Soul. This game was released in October 9th, 2009 for North America,  Japan on February 5, 2009, and June 25, 2010 in Europe.

Story: The story takes place in the kingdom of Boletaria, ruled by King Allant XII. The kind is a very greedy man, and because of his greed, the king searched for power and prosperity through a dark ritual of channeling the power of souls that brought prosperity to Boletaria. It did not last long, because the Deep Fog covered the land’s outskirts, disconnecting the kingdom from the outside world. Nearby kingdoms sent scouts to investigate but they never returned after entering the fog.  It was only after Vallarfax of the royal Twin Fangs broke free from the fog that the rest of the world could be told of Boletaria’s plight. By channeling souls, King Allant had awakened the Old One, a great demon residing below the Nexus. With the Old One’s awakening, a dark fog unleashed demons who feasted on the souls of mankind, where those left alive without a soul became insane and violent. Without resistance, the fog slowly begins to spread beyond Boletaria. After Vallarfax had warned the kingdoms, many brave warriors attempted to save Boletaria while others were swayed  harnessing the demon’s souls, either way many were lost to the fog. As one of these warriors, the player takes control of one such warrior who enters the lost kingdom, however shortly after entering, the warrior is killed by a great demon. After dying, the hero, now in soul form, appears in the Nexus greeted by the Maiden in Black, a mysterious and blinded patron of the Nexus who then gives the player a quest to travel through Boletaria and retrieve the demon’s souls to gain power and eventually free Boletaria from the Old One.

Gameplay: Players take control of their character in the third-person aspect which they can customize for gender, class, name, etc. There are many starting classes to choose from such as the knight, thief, magician, and much more. Each class has their own set of stats, starting gear, weapons and type of magic that fits the player’s way of play. There are two phases (I guess you could say different) of the game and that is when you are alive and when your in soul form.

The great thing about Demon’s Soul is that online play is integrated into single player experiences. For example, when playing through a world, you will see white phantoms which are actual players progressing through their own world.  You may also see blood stains on the ground and when you interact with the blood, it shows the last few seconds of a person dying. If you die, your blood stain will appear where you died 5-10 seconds of where you actually died. You must return to where you died to obtain the Souls( explained later) you lost. Another part of the game is the Blue Stone System, When you are dead you can set down a Soul message. These messages can be seen by other players (who are alive) and they can summon you into their world. The objective is to help that play kill the boss without you or that player dying. The reward is Souls and being resurrected in your world.  While the Blue Stone System is nice, there is danger with it and that is the Black Stone System. While you or the player that is alive can summon Blue Phantoms (other players) into their world. Black Phantoms can randomly invade that person who is alive, and kill them. This game in my opinion… is the one of the most cruelest games I have ever played. To level in this game, you must use Souls, which is the currency of this game. Souls are also used to buy and repair items. However when you die in a world, you lose those souls. As explained above, you must get back to where you died and touch your blood stain to recover the souls you lost. If you die trying to get those souls… you lose them.

If you thought that was bad, it gets worse =x

In this game there is a system called World Tendency, The world goes from either white or black, where white is good and black is bad. There is also a Tendency for the player as well. How it works is when you defeat a boss in a world, the World Tendency becomes more white, however when you die in that world, the world becomes darker. When the World Tendency is white, enemies are easier, while when the Tendency is black, the enemies are harder. To top it off… When you die when you are alive or in soul form, the monsters come back to life so you have to fight through the level to get back to where you were!

This game may be very difficult at times and sometimes very frustrating, however that’s what brings the challenge. This game is very entertaining and can be even better with friends. Just make sure you have some sort of communication because in Demon’s Soul there really is no way to communicate unless you send a mail via PSN.

If I were to give this a rating out of 10 I would give it a 9.8/10. I still play this game today, and the experience in game is just amazing =)

Below is a trailer of Demon’s Soul. Hope you enjoy the game too!

Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail Review

26 01 2011

This season has been not so a disappointment after all. Black Lagoon: Roberta’s Blood Trail episode 3 has been out and I have been waiting for this episode. You can expect a lot of blood splatter actions in this anime with all guns and explosions.

For you who haven’t watched the first and second season of this anime, I would recommend you to watch it first since it is important to get the background of the characters first. If you decide to read this through, be warned of some spoilers though. However, I will keep it minimized so not to spoil the fun in watching the anime if you were decided to pick this anime up.

So, the story revolves around the Lovelace family. The Lovelace family is one of the 13 prominent South American family. The family is considered one of the weakest family with low income and now can only afford one maid. In this story, the head of the family, Diego Jose San Fernando Lovelace, was killed by the Colombian Cartel since his politic views are considered to be threat.

Roberta, formally known as Rosarita Cisneros, who is a devoted maid to the Lovelace family took a stand by once again regaining her Bloodhound persona, a murderous persona when she was an assassin in Cuba. She swore vengence upon the people who killed her master and left the Lovelace family.

So, I guess I would stop there since continuing would be revealing important spoilers. You can expect that there will be a blast blooded action in Roanapur once again since there will be a triangle chasing story plot. Roberta chasing the Colombian Cartel, CIA chasing Roberta, and Garcia Lovelace, the successor of the Lovelace family, is in search to find Roberta. I have watched the third episode and it’s just keep getting better and better every episode.

Level E: A District 9 Turned Comedy

26 01 2011

Okay, one anime title that I think worth watching would be Level E. Do you still remember District 9? A Sci-fi movie that depicts how humans were invaded by aliens and to that they were building a society there. Or perhaps you are more familiar with Men In Black, which depicts that humans were not aware of aliens that are already invaded earth since they are in disguise using human skin.

This anime has the same as both of those two titles. An alien story plot with many comedy in it. If you are wondering about the graphic of this anime which resemble the kind of graphic of 90s manga, that’s because the manga has already been there for quite a long time.

However, the story is brilliantly funny and I laugh my ass out. You have a human protagonist and an alien protagonist who crash landed on Earth and lose his memory. As an alien he lacks of common sense and basic decency (although there is more to it on why he is acting this way).

To sort things out, this anime is really hilarious with many slapsticks jokes. The aliens were pretty much made me laugh and the third episode is just so hilarious. Anyway, I’m talking in blur since I don’t want to spoil the fun off you guys to watch. So, I guess I will be leaving you with the trailer you can watch.
