One of the newest anime this season is the “unique” Love Live! School Project. Initially it was Japanese multimedia project co-developed by ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki G’s Magazine, music label Lantis and anime studio Sunrise. Launched in August 2010, it went on to produce music CDs, anime music videos and a manga adaptation. Currently the project has 5 singles including 5 anime music videos. For this season it’s now a regular anime TV series handled by Sunrise. This project revolves around a group of fictional school girls who become idols to save their school from shutting down.
Synopsis
Otonokizaka High School stands on the border of three cities: Akihabara – a pop culture mecca that’s evolving by the minute; Kanda – a conservative, cultured city where history and tradition reign supreme; and Jinbo – a quiet area reserved for a more mature, sophisticated population. Amidst this culture clash, the school now faces closure due to the enrollment of fewer and fewer students.
With the school planning to close within three years, nine female students come together with one thing in mind—form a pop idol group to revive the school’s popularity and keep it from shutting down. “In order to protect our beloved school, there’s only one thing we can do…become pop stars!”
Their goal is simple: Become an overnight sensation and use their nationwide media exposure to promote their school and bring in a wave of new students to the ailing area. A simple but solid plan, they figure. Naturally, they’re nervous and wonder if this plan can really succeed, but for better or worse their new journey has begun…
“All we can ask for is just a tiny bit of support from you. We truly believe that with your help, we can change the world around us. We will make our dreams come true!”

This anime is similar with AKB0048 and The Idolm@ster, for the use of idol groups as the core of the story. So, expect many singing and dancing. The CGIs are unexpectedly good, and the songs are not bad either. If you have the time to spare you certainly must watch this, just for the fun of it.

Cute!!! And the animation is great, i want in VOSTF.Thanks Kaimax for this discover
I find myself liking Idolm@ster that I jumped on the bandwagon. Probably the message behind it won me over with the likable cast.
However, I dislike AKB48 and 99.99% of girl bands in existence.
Only time will tell if I accept this School Idol project…
