Wallpaper of the Week: Kirby & Rainbow

18 10 2012

Erm, yea, I’m back…from the dead. I’ve passed a month and a half already of torture grade 11 so far. As much as having a crappy schedule goes, I guess I’m still hanging on between life and death so far. As you all know, grade 11 is the most critical time of the year because this is the grade that all universities look at to deem a student worthy of joining their programs and well, my parents and teachers aren’t going to go easy on me like they did for the last 2 years while in secondary so…yea. Sorry for being away for so long. Anyway, as you can see in this wallpaper, my friend has….ahem…influenced me in this certain video game that she showed me and now, I can’t stop playing this either. The reason why I separated the rainbow is that just now, outside my brother’s room window, I just saw a real rainbow (I took a picture of it too) so yea, enough blabbering from me. Enjoy the wallpaper.

Exilo’s Dumps: Wallpaper of the Week & Beat of the Day

4 08 2012

Hey people…I know, I disappeared for  a long time already – don’t even get me started. Since I’m here now, I might as well say that I’m leaving for another few days again because I’m going to America tomorrow, to Detroit. I won’t be back until late Monday night so I might as well just dump a few things before I leave. First off, I want to give in my first shot in tossing a wallpaper on Omamori Himari, an anime I’ve recently completed. This features Himari, our female protagonist which is pretty badass with her sword fighting techniques. Here she is just relaxing by the lake.

Secondly, the beat of the day (man, it does feel like ten years since I’ve done this – sorry if I’m a bit out of it) is a song from Fun, called “Some Nights”. Starting from their original hit “We Are Young”, their second song is their next song released from the same album with the title of the latter. I really like the marching band-esque style of this piece so without further ado, I hope you guys enjoy the song and the wallpaper that I’ve picked out.

Fun – Some Nights:

P.s. – is anyone watching Olympics so far? Canada won Great Britain in women’s soccer today – I watched the entire thing. Go Canada, China, Japan and Korea! =D

Pre-Valentine’s Day Special/Song Request

14 02 2012

Hey guys, what’s up? I know that I’m late for giving in an update post but I might as well do it now since I some little time to spare. I know that for some of you, Valentine’s day is technically today, but in my time zone (EST Canada), mine is still tomorrow. So for all of you like me, I guess this post can go for all of you guys (and the others too! Don’t feel left out!).

I know that Sylph-chan already mentioned mostly of what I had planned to say so I thank her greatly of saving me a lot of time. Anyway, this is a special song for all you people who are actually celebrating Valentine’s day, which also counts as another song request done by me as I have a friend who really likes this song. The song’s name is called Two Is Better Than One by Boys Like Girls Ft. Taylor Swift. Unfortunately, like Kazasou, I can’t really see much of a Valentine’s Day for me because I promised one of my friends that I will go cheer her on for her swimming competition tomorrow so I won’t be at school for the whole day haha. Oh well…so much for seeing secret sing-a-grams and love notes and trolling.

Well, once again, I hope you all have a nice and warm Valentine’s Day!

Song Request: Maroon 5 – Sunday Morning

30 01 2012

Hello, how’s everyone doing so far? I shouldn’t keep this post going for too long, so just quick statements are going to be used. First off, my current situation is being in the midst of exams. I have already completed two (science and math), and I have one left (history – I hate this one because I know there’s an essay part to this). So to anyone else out there that are like me, doing their exams, I wish you all good luck.

Moving on to the topic. This is a really late song request from a close friend of mine, as I was originally planning to post this up in the morning today. Unfortunately, because of some random church event (don’t ask) that I had to go to, that took up most of my day’s time. So I’m quickly putting this down before, well, let’s just say, while I still have some time left, as I will most likely be studying like a maniac and not doing other things like this over the course of the next two days. Hey, don’t be mistaken though, remember how I mentioned awhile ago that a song request means its something that myself and another person also likes. I am a huge fan of Maroon 5 too, haha.

Maroon 5 – Sunday Morning:

P.s.:
About the part 2 of GoW 3, sorry to say but I haven’t gotten anything done on that section. I’ll probably go back to it some time later but now, after exams I’m planning to do another video game chat, as well as adding some more song requests, as those are starting to fill up my list.

Game Talk: Gears of War 3 Part 1 – Campaign

6 01 2012

Well, hey guys…I know. Don’t even get me started on the whole why I wasn’t present for half a year thing. I get it, like really. Anyways, I hope everyone had a nice holiday and all, cause mine really rocks, especially during boxing day (yes, I went game buying crazy – this topic one the most). I also want to welcome whoever new author(s) I didn’t meet yet while I was inactive. Before I get started on my topic today, I just want to outline a few posts that I’ll start to write about in the next few weeks or so, depending on my filled exam schedule in January. I’ve decided that I’m going to add maybe one or more game reviews, then start a new corner called “Song Request”. Yes, it’s basically a post where others, well, mostly my friends, have a song that we both like and I’ll post it up to share with everyone else. Then after that, I’d continue posting some new music over the time that I missed, maybe once in a while putting up a spotlight for a certain things I think might be interesting, etc…and yeah. So be on the lookout for those, and that’s all for now.

So this here is, finally, Gears of War 3, which if you gears fans know, the finale of the Gears series. It is developed by Epic Games and helped by Microsoft Studios for the Xbox 360 console exclusively. It was originally supposed to be released on April 2011 but due to slow development, the date had been pushed back to September of the same year.

Now, before I get started on the plot and basics, the point of me calling this post game talk and NOT game review is that I may or may not be biased on several topics. Since I’m only stating my opinion, I could be wrong at some parts. Also, this game is generally large in varieties, so I’ve decided to split this talk into parts, depending on how much I’m covering. Oh, and if you guys don’t want to get spoiled before playing, I don’t recommend you to read this because it’ll give away the story.

The plot/beginning of the game starts two years after the ending of Gears of War 2, which means 2 years after the sinking of Jacinto. The Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG), has already disbanded 18 months ago ever since head leader Chairman Prescott left. The rest of the old COG forces had been fighting from Locust attacks to the even more dangerous enemy, the Lambent (imulsion fueled locust that explode in contact). With Vectes gone, they had no choice but to flee back to the mainland on their last ship, CNV Sovereign.

As like the previous games, you start out as Marcus Fenix, a war hero who was later imprisoned in the Slab because of his failure to listen to orders by trying to save his father Adam Fenix, an infamous scientist. The game starts out like Gears of War 1 except it was Marcus’s dream world where he remembers the last time seeing his father, thinking his father is already dead. Pretty soon, Marcus and his allies Dom, Jace and Anya (now a frontline gear) had found out that Prescott came back, along the way giving Marcus a mysterious data disk. When the group played what was on the disk, they soon came to realize that Adam did not die and he was still alive somewhere.

All of a sudden, lambent forces has struck the ship, causing critical damage and soon enough blowing up the entire ship. Marcus and co. has managed to escape just in time before the explosion hit them but afterwards, their whereabouts became unknown…

Meanwhile, the other part of Delta Squad – Cole and Baird, along with Clayton Carmine and Sam were in Hanover, Cole’s hometown, looking for supplies they could find from stranded camps. In this part, the player’s character switches from Marcus to Cole, who is leading this group. Cole’s group looks around many different stranded camps, with some who were willing to cooperate to some who just didn’t care. When Marcus’s situation got reported back to them, Cole and his squad had decided to help kill the Lambent forces that are trying to destroy the ship by heading to the bridge that was directly overhead the ship at that time and dropping ticker bombs (refer back to GoW 2 for more info). It turned out that it wasn’t so great of an idea, because when the lambent fish exploded, the ship went down. Later, both squads were reunited once they all located Prescott, who died soon after they rescued him from the explosion. Before he died, he explained everything to Marcus on his father’s whereabouts and where he hid him – Azura.

Prescott had told Marcus and the rest to head down to Anvil Gate where Hoffman knows the rest of the information needed to find Azura. So taking one long trip full of lambent and locust surprises, they make it to Anvil Gate, which once used to be a war zone operation now abandoned. After a brief meeting with Hoffman and Bernie, an old gear that had unknowingly disappeared but came back, the group were soon attacked by more frequent forces, including a death match between a lambent berserker. When all the mess were cleared, more info had been uncovered as the group found out that Azura is a man-made island where the only passageway to get inside it was an underwater submarine, as the surface is heavily guarded with locust and a giant man-made hurricane barrier.

However, once the forces had found a submarine, they need the imulsion fuel to power it up so Dom tells everyone to head down to Mercy, even though many were concerned to go there because that was his wife’s hometown and his wife is no longer living. Nevertheless, without the fuel, that was their only choice. Marcus, Dom, Sam, Jace and Anya continue to travel down to Mercy.

To be continued…

Okay, I’m going to cut it off here for now. Wait for part 2 which I’ll probably finish the rest of the campaign story. If you guys have any questions, try looking at the previous games to get yourself filled in or just search up in wiki, etc. Since I’ve played all the games and have read all the books (except the second – I’m halfway through that), I know pretty much all the insides and outsides of the Gears world so asking me here is okay as well. I’ll try my best to answer it. Well, that’s it from me today – I gotta start work.

Beat of the Day: Simple Minds – Don’t You (Forget About Me)

1 09 2011

Wow, can’t believe that summer vacation’s almost gone by already – seems like school just ended yesterday to me, haha. Oh well, guess it can’t be helped now. Hello second year of high school…or should I say, hello grade 10.

This won’t be a long post, because I don’t have much time around my computer lately so this should be quick. I want to post this song for a while now but just never had the time to.

Today’s beat of the day is Simple Minds – Don’t You (Forget About Me). It’s a calm rock song in my point of view, probably not even to you guys. It’s pretty old, if I remember correctly – I think it was used on the Breakfast Club show and once in Family Guy and Futurama (Gahh, love Futurama!).

Well, I don’t really have much to say so, enjoy the song then.

…Wait.

P.s. :
Did anyone watch Madoka Magica? I read the entire manga series just 2 days ago (yea, I get it, I didn’t want to read it at first but at the end I guess my friends got to me) and ever since then, the thought of it never left my head – hell, I was completely brain-dead and heartbroken by the end of the story. In case I  had forgotten to say it earlier, this beat today actually somewhat connects to the end of Madoka Magica…I won’t blatantly say it or else it would be a spoiler. To you guys who have already watched/read the series, try piecing out the lyrics for this song and you may understand what I’m trying to point out.

“Mood Swings” : Halo 3 OST – Never Forget & Gears of War BGM – Lost Cog

3 08 2011

I know I haven’t done anything in a while, so I guess I could take some time off on this boring Wednesday to post what I’d like to call a “Mood Swinger” music post.

It’s more or less like my previous post where I post some music that fits my personal feelings at the moment. Well, it’s a rainy Wednesday and I’ve got nothing better to do than to sit at home and stare at the four walls in my room for the whole day….and recently, I’ve got some unfortunate family issues I have to face currently so…I’m really not in the mood to do anything fun for the time being. I’ll perhaps post again if this mood finally shifts for the better (hope I’ll get down a Psx game review while I’m at it). For now, just let it be.

Beat of the Day: Chris Daughtry – Home

20 07 2011

Ha…I guess I’m really lazy during the summer. Didn’t go back to creating a new post for ages, as least that’s what it feels like.

So, due to what I totally feel like at the moment, I’ve decided to choose a more fitting song for my mood. Here’s Chris Daughtry with Home. I know that this song really just talks about homecoming and heartwarming moments for American Marines who were, back then, at the Iraq War, I think. The lyrics were saying about how brave the Soldiers were and the relationships that they still hold dearly back home in America.

However, for me, I’ve just took an alternate meaning to this song – because of the fact that I’ve feel like I haven’t contributed anything in ages here, I feel like that I’m coming home too, my internet second home, that is (if you get what I mean). I don’t really know how to explain it, but I just feel like there’s some kind of strange connection here of my current situation fitting along the lines of this song.

So, above all, enjoy the song, guys.

Beat of the Day: Gran Turismo Japanese Op – Moon Over The Castle

30 06 2011

Man…so much things have happened ever since I last came back here. Sorry for the lateness guys, I totally forgot to come back and do some more posts – I had originally planned to post again during the weekend after my exams last week but…I don’t know, things happened, I guess.
Lately, I’ve tried to fix an old used tv in my room that I got from my parents so I guess that’s going to take up most of the time. Couldn’t summarize anymore than that.

I don’t really know what to post exactly at the moment but I guess I could just post a short video about one of my most favourite opening themes from video games of all times – Gran Turismo.

The Japanese version of Gran Turismo (GT), ever since the first one – the Psx version (Yes, I do have GT1) all the way to the newest one (GT5), the theme song has never changed since. The creators originally planned to make different themes for each game before but because of the hit popularity of the very first game’s opening, they decided to keep it as the main theme of GT since then. If anyone lives in Japan, when they hear this opening theme, they would probably know this known theme forever.

However, I dislike the  North American version of GT. Instead of keeping this iconic theme, they decided to botch it out in favour of their own hardcore American rock style, which totally sucked and received poor reviews from customers compared to the Japanese version. Not just only the main theme song, even the race music bgm of the original Japanese one changed to the own American version. I also heard that the European version was almost just as bad as well….but then again, this is just my opinion.

Well, I  think I pretty much covered most of the things. If you guys have your own opinion, well, comment on it, I guess.

Oh, before I forget, this post is also dedicated to my older brother the crazy car guy who, uhh, introduced me to this kick ass song and game.

Simple Flash Game: Hopping Tenshi

3 06 2011

Ok, quick post and a few announcements. Firstly, I would like to welcome the new co-authors of TRT. Hello there, and enjoy your stay here.

Secondly, about last week. So probably nobody knows nor cares, but last Sunday I made my way down to Anime North 2011. Even though some of the things and especially the ticket to get in is very pricey ($35/person on Sunday – Saturday…don’t even ask), the contents inside the con was really worth it. It was way too short though (only 3 days last weekend). I walked in there with around $48 and came out with only around $13 left. Pretty awesome still – I manage to get some photos of people cosplaying at least.

Thirdly, some unfortunate announcements. It’s already June, which is the end month of the entire school semester. For me, I’ve got loads of work already. I’ve got plentiful of projects, assignments, tests and practical exams coming up. EQAO is approaching in roughly around 2 weeks and right after that exams are hitting the highway. Due to all this work coming up, my weekly posts will start to become irregular and if the situation gets worst then I probably cannot post anything until by end June (after exams). Sorry to all, but I hope the rest of the authors here at TRT will cover that up with their own awesome posts.

As for this small post finally after all that, here’s a little stress relief Touhou flash game that I’ve been playing lately. It’s very simple and all, which I like to play this when I’m taking a break from all my workload. Very similar to the frog jumping game from the iPhone apps, Tenshi automatically jumps and you only need to navigate left and right to step on the platforms. The #s at the bottom indicates your total height and the games keeps going until you fall.

Here’s the website for the game:

Have fun guys!

Random Post Series: Duty Calls (Call of Duty Parody)

23 05 2011

Oh gee. I feel like I’m not a part of this blog anymore for being away for a while. Really sorry that I have though, because last week I had so much work that I’d basically drowned my entire weekend into non-stop nerd nut working (yea, no time to go outside either). Glad that during this long weekend that I do have enough time to make a random post that’s also not about music (again, cause I don’t really feel like it at this moment).

On the good and bad news side, the good news is that Anime North in Toronto is less than a week away – I got permission to either go on Saturday afternoon with my friends or on Sunday with my brother. I’m still deciding on it – the only reason why I can go is because I used an excuse (but it’s a real excuse) that I want to go there for my upcoming french project about critiquing on the Animecon. So…yea – but on the bad news….my Saturday school final exams is on that same Saturday morning, as to why I cannot go full day on the said day. So I kind of took it as a reward after exams.

Well, yea, that pretty much sums everything up so enjoy the rest of the weekend, guys.

Toyota Commercial: Hatsune Miku’s US Debut…?

8 05 2011

I’m going to lay of the beats today with a discussion/topic and debate today, guys. I’m surprised that nobody had mention this article/news yet. Chech this out:

Toyota Commerical – Hatsune Miku:

Screencaps:

Yep. So apparently, it seems that Vocaloid Hatsune Miku is starting to break a US Debut inside a Toyota commercial. Yes guys, this is going to be aired up in America. I think maybe Canada too…well, one can hope. I myself am getting too hyped up for this, I know.

However, the discussion topic here is, will Americans actually accept this commercial? I mean, if Toyota really does air this on TV in America, will the people even bother? I know that many stereotypes out there say this is just plain BS and I even think that not much Americans will even know who Hatusne Miku even is. YTs responses are like a mix of positive and negative at the same time and this issue is brewing up for quite some time.

In my personal opinion, I would really love this debut. You may say that I’m just biasing because you all know I’m a huge crazed fan of Hatsune Miku but I also see the other side of this. Like some others say, think this commercial as more like Hatsune Miku being used by Toyota to be introduced to US and not the other way around, of using Hatsune Miku’s already hyped up Japanese fanbase to increase Toyota’s popularity. Besides, I heard that creators at Crypton FM is already planning a concept stage into making an english voicebank for Hatsune Miku so that means that this commercial is basically like killing two birds with one stone, if Crypton is actually going to make their Vocaloids to ship them overseas into North America.

So here’s today’s biggest question: What’s your opinion on this article? Comment that below and set up a debate guys cause I want to know all your opinions on this.

Beat of the Day: Linkin Park – New Divide

1 05 2011

Hey guys, what’s up? It’s another week again and I guess more things are happening around us as we’re all getting near the home-stretch of Summer, haha. I mean, it’s already May the 1st and for me, the workload keeps increasing like there’s no tomorrow.

Oh, just random info for “Toronto-ians”  – if any of you guys are interested, Anime North is hosted in the  Toronto Congress Center and at Doubletree International Plaza Hotel, 655 Dixon Rd on the weekend of May 27-29. For additional info, visit their website at http://www.animenorth.com/main/.

As for me, if I’m lucky, I might be going there with some of my friends – I think my friends are cosplaying, but as for me, no, I don’t do that stuff.

Anyway, due to my previous Linkin Park post being so smash-hit, I guess here’s a/n special encore for another song. Here’s New Divide from the official soundtrack of Transformers.

No, not that I like the movie or anything, I just like the song itself – even though the music video for this song is awesome. Still love that rock band style that’s featured in this song. Along with the techno in the beginning too. So enjoy the encore guys.

Hatsune Miku – Shiningray

24 04 2011

Well…here’s the weekly Sunday Post again. Yea I know, it’s already the long weekend which I’ve been striving for and I should have more time to post more often, blahblah – I get it. I’m not going to make up any excuses this time – I admit, I’m getting lazy these few days just because I want to get away from all that stressful workload from school. I was planning to post something on Friday but I guess I just got lazy and turned away from doing so. Oh well, at least now I am. “Better late than never” as they say.

Here’s Shiningray from Hatsune Miku. Sorry guys, I know I’ve been a little off topic on my weekly posts of rock music by various bands but these few days I find that I couldn’t get myself in rock music. I’ve been quite addicted to either J-pop (Vocaloid) or K-pop bands for a while. So please bear with it for now - I promise to get back to the regular music soon. Well, other than that, I’m not sure if anyone already post this song (there’s too much co-authors writing about so many Vocaloid songs that I’d already lost count) and if they did, I do apologize for a dupilcate.

I really like this song – not cause of just the hard rock – the lyrics are pretty meaningful. I love the way the message of this song is conveyed to the viewers. It talks about how this poor girl is going to pass away soon and she talks about lost memories as she awaits her fate. At the end, she mentions that she will always watch over her loved ones up there in the sky. The song is very emotional and sad – I know, but that’s probably the point of why I love this song so much. (I wish I found some tabs for this song >__>) …did I mention that the gutiar solo in the middle rocks?

Well…yea – I really don’t have much to say now…so enjoy, I guess?

Beat of the Day: Jason Mraz – I’m Yours

17 04 2011

Hey guys…I’m back. Umm…oh yea, first things first – I would like to give a VERY late welcome (sorry, please forgive my lateness! >__<) to the 2 new co-authors for TRT while I was on my weekly hiatus. So, hello there Maddzz and ianah – nice to meet you guys.

Well, another slow week has gone by and today on Sunday, I’m back again with my weekly beat posts. Seriously, maybe I should start my own post calling it “Beat of the Week” instead of day cause I think it would make more sense. Blah, I should post more often now that we have so much more new co-authors writing on a daily basis. Everyone writes all their posts with so much enthusiasm and lots of moeness often that even now I feel left out of the circle. I know, I’m often so dark and negative about things – that’s just me, I guess.

Anyway, today is any typical Sunday – I can’t seem to concentrate on my work as I’m getting distracted every now and then. So because of this boring day, I’ve decided to lay off the hard rock and insert a quiet, peaceful and soothing song instead.

This song is called ”I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz and I’m pretty sure that you all should have either heard it before or just know it, as it is a popular song that’s produced back in 2009. The album’s name for this song is called ”We Sing, We Dance And We Steal Things” which is made in May 13, 2008. “I’m Yours” has hit many billboard singles and charts throughout the world and the music video was really great too. I actually love this song’s musical composition. All you really need is just a simple acoustic guitar or a ukulele with some simple kind of drum beat in the background to create this amazing piece. I’m even attempting to learn the chords for this simple song with my acoustic guitar too in fact. Well, anyhow, I don’t want to elaborate further because I have to start on my work soon. So, enjoy the music.
