One of Indonesian students in Germany has been involved in the construction of a Light Following Robot. That particular guy called Bawono Langgeng who happened to be my friend. This robot is mounted with two sensors, left and right, to detect the presence of an incoming light. Once the robot has determined the position of the light, it will move towards it until it is close enough to the light. If you are wondering what he looks like, he is the person on the furthest right at the end of the clip.

Even more impresive is that you can interact with her and she will respond accordingly.
At last, something that will make your head filled with nerdgasm! Japanese university students are developing a user facial expression program to be synchronized with an animated avatar. This program detects your facial expression and in real time it transmit the data to the avatar chosen to match your facial expression. I guess our world soon enough will be shifting to a 2 dimensional sosial networking environment. I can’t wait for this to be implemented as a commercial product.
This is a project done by the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz GmbH (DFKI) that I involved in. The project basically revolves around the development of an automotive navigation system. This automative navigation system has a couple of enhanced features.
The Route calculation features the calculation of the shortest route to arrive at a designated destination. Not much of comment about this feature since it is a basic feature of an automotive navigation system. It also features a text-to-speech synthesizer for notifying the direction to go. Again, not much comment about this basic feature.
What’s interesting about this Automotive Navigation System is that it is equipped with a Street Foresighting System. This feature uses a similar network topology of peer-to-peer which in this case the car that is equipped with the navigation system can broadcast traffic information to other cars. This Street Foresighting System reports traffic congestion status and the system can intelligently redirect any route that is observed to have slow traffic rate.
Not only that, this navigation system is also equipped with obstacle reporting system which is observed by a camera installed in the car. Obstacle such as a broken down vehicle or a road construction can be reported to other cars to avoid any potential accidents to occur.
The system is currently under test and the interaction between the user and the system is temporarily used with a keyboard and mouse.

So, after disappearing from the face of the earth for quite a long time I have returned! Well in reality I was holed up in my house trying to figure out how to juggle my personal life and school work. It’s so stressful I’ve really had no time for blogging or any of the other stuff that I love doing. However, I managed to pull out some time and get over my guilt to post this. The original was already an incredibly good song, but hearing it with all four of Gumi’s extends just makes it four thousand times better. With her original voice, the personality of the ‘tenants’ couldn’t be captured. However, utilizing the extends creates a whole new effect. Hope you enjoy this! And yes, I will be back some time soon!

I don’t know much about her yet but I would like to say a few things. Her voice is extremely realistic for a Vocaloid, but she does sound a tiny bit like a Korean version of VY1. Her design reminds me a bit of a blonde, grown up Iroha for some reason but I think she will be a hit. Here’s a little demo of her voice!
Another great song by the ever great producer Nem. It was #4 overall in the Top 15 of July. In my opinion, it’s pretty surprising to find a horror song like this smack dab in the middle of summer [that was when it was released of course]. Anyways, beautiful melody, fascinating art, great instrumental…add to that the fact I haven’t heard a decent Len song in forever, and boom, I’ve just fell in love with Nem all over again. Seriously, for once Len doesn’t sound like a shouta [not that I mind, I just need a change of pace]. Keep up the good work! Enjoy the song guys!

[I think it might be '15 years pursuing a cute boy' but isn't that Hatsune Miku's song?] This is an absolutely amazing and funny song by VY2 [Yuma], who I grow to love more and more by the day. His voice completely wins me over not only because it sounds realistic. It made the top 15 for July’s most popular songs, so take a look at it! For the ones, who never listened to GUMI Extend, here is the song Instellar Flight. In this demo song all the GUMI Extend voices (ORIGINAL, POWER, WHISPER, SWEET, ADULT) will be played. On GUMI’s second birthday, NicoNama revealed this live. Her voice provider is Megumi Nakajima. They are still playing with her voice, so it will change some bit! The new Extend will add another vocal expression to the original voice bank. GUMI has another breathe sound and her pronunciations will improve & become clearer. GUMI Extend will have the same properties as the Crypton Vocaloid Appends. The voicebank will be released for Vocaloid 2 but it will get a Vocaloid 3 version when it is released!
I love her Power Version! It’s ever better than Miku, Rin & Len Append! (Mm, maybe almost better than Rin & Len ^3^/) I can’t wait for more full GUMI Extend songs!
