IT Project: DFKI Automotive Navigation System

This is a project done by the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz GmbH (DFKI) that I involved in. The project basically revolves around the development of an automotive navigation system. This automative navigation system has a couple of enhanced features.

The Route calculation features the calculation of the shortest route to arrive at a designated destination. Not much of comment about this feature since it is a basic feature of an automotive navigation system. It also features a text-to-speech synthesizer for notifying the direction to go. Again, not much comment about this basic feature.

What’s interesting about this Automotive Navigation System is that it is equipped with a Street Foresighting System. This feature uses a similar network topology of peer-to-peer which in this case the car that is equipped with the navigation system can broadcast traffic information to other cars. This Street Foresighting System reports traffic congestion status and the system can intelligently redirect any route that is observed to have slow traffic rate.

Not only that, this navigation system is also equipped with obstacle reporting system which is observed by a camera installed in the car. Obstacle such as a broken down vehicle or a road construction can be reported to other cars to avoid any potential accidents to occur.

The system is currently under test and the interaction between the user and the system is temporarily used with a keyboard and mouse.

【ナノ（nano）】NANOIR 【Official Debut Album】

As promised, I have more Utaite news for all those fans out there! Nano’s debut album ‘NANOIR’ officially goes on sale today! Most of you probably have never heard of Nano because up until about a year ago, she was virtually unknown throughout NND. Known for her strong, tomboyish voice, Nano grew up in New York City and as a result, speaks both Japanese and English fluently. Known for both her covers of Vocaloid and Avril Lavigne songs, Nano has made quite a name for herself in the utaite world.

In April, she will be singing the opening to the 2nd season of the anime Phi Brain.

NANOIR is currently available on Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B006DUHQBM) and features popular Vocaloid songs such as ‘Just Be Friends’ and ‘Calc’ as well as her own original song called ‘Magenta’.

Floppy Drive Music – Imperial March

OK, I can’t be the only one here who remembers the non floppy floppy disks.

Well this person found the single most amazing thing to do with them. Its something I used to dabble with, so I understand mostly what he did. It’s still awesome to see it in action doh. Kind of beats my radio I made, out of a 9volt battery, some transistors/resistors/wire and a piece of cardboard.

Things like this, I truly love, and its things like this that got me into electronics & experimenting in the first place…

Korean Vocaloid3 ‘SeeU’

I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw this update and then proceeded to nearly faint. Anyways, the new Korean Vocaloid3 has been announced! Here’s the basic information on her:

SeeU – SV01 시유

Age: 17
Height: 159 cm
Weight. 44.5kg
Genre: Kpop, Ballad pop
Range: C3 ~ C5
Tempo: 60~ 170 BPM

I don’t know much about her yet but I would like to say a few things. Her voice is extremely realistic for a Vocaloid, but she does sound a tiny bit like a Korean version of VY1. Her design reminds me a bit of a blonde, grown up Iroha for some reason but I think she will be a hit. Here’s a little demo of her voice!

番の宝物 Ichiban no Takaramono [My Most Precious Treasure]

Before I put the song along with its video down, I suppose I should tell you why I decided to choose this. So today, I was combing through youtube for some suitable Japanese song that I could cover [yes I sing for fun but that's not important] and while I was scrolling through numerous favorites and play-lists, I happened to look down at my iPod and realize that the last episode of Angel Beats in English had been released. After spending a few minutes in shock, I remembered this one song played back in episode 10 during Yui and Hinata’s confession. I didn’t know what it was called so I spent about ten grueling minutes trying to find it. I finally got the song-Ichiban no Takaramono-and I thought that I should share it with the rest of you guys. Seriously, this song almost always moves me to tears. What was originally supposed to be me on a hunt for a song to cover instead turned into a tribute for the last episode release in English. I love you, Angel Beats!

Utattemoratta Vol. 2 Seibetsu no Maigo-Hen

If you have a good memory, you might be able to remember a Cendrillon post I did a while back with Che:Sakurai singing the guy part and Vip:Tenchou singing the girl part [genders reversed]. Anyways, after getting over my laziness, I decided to go find the entire album to share with you guys! Surprisingly, it wasn’t that hard to find so I guess that if I had been up to it, I would have been able to deliver you this package of amazingness a long time ago. Curse me and my I-don’t-want-to-do-anything-but-listen-to-the-lazy-song-by-Bruno-Mars-attitude.

Ahem, anyways, a word or two about the tracks and the album. It’s in a zipped format naturally, so I hope that you have some sort of extracting software to be able to be blown away by this. Like stated above, the genders of the Nico Nico Douga singers featured in this are reversed. The girls sing the guy parts, and the guys sing the girl parts. Sadly, there is no Piko or Sekihan in this album [sorry my fellow fangirls] but there are plenty of other amazing singers as well! You may recognize a lot of these names. Cendrillon [che:櫻井 + vip店長]

Every time I listen to this, I’m still super amazed at just how talented these two are. This track is from a CD where the main theme is…trap singing. Of course, for those of you who don’t know, that is to say that the singers sing like their opposite genders. Che, who’s singing Kaito’s part is actually a girl (you can totally confirm it from listening to her other dubs like Mozaic Role on youtube) and Vip, who sings Miku’s part is a guy (I’m pretty sure he is…to my extent of knowledge) Anyways, let’s just say I’m uber impressed…and hopefully, you guys will be too. Now excuse me while I go fawn over Clear’s voice…*sneaks out the backdoor and hopes no other Clear fangirls find me)

KAITO Append Demo

Crpyton’s a roll these days. Two new vocaloids, Vocaloid 3 engine arriving by the end of the year, Gumi Extend, and now this: An Append for KAITO! Honestly, this sent shivers up my spine…really, he sounds so much more human now. Even if you’re not a big fan of Kaito before this, I think you’ll like him just a bit better now…

Featured Cosplay Shot: Death Note Movie Poster

Ahem…I was browsing through the popular cosplay section of Deviantart and stumbled upon this by chance. In a way, this inspired me to introduce the ‘Featured Cosplay Shot’ segment of Randomness Thing. (We are quite getting into cosplay these days, aren’t we?) Anyways, this is a Death  Note cosplay that simply goes by ‘Movie Poster’. The reason it drew my attention so much was simply because the shot looks so surreal. The chipped off paint on the walls, the lighting, even the obviously weird Ryuk cosplay in the middle of the floor seems to give this photo a really eerie touch. I recommend you don’t look at it at like, midnight.

Anyways, my point isn’t to talk about the scenery (as much as I like it), but about the cosplayers. Alodia and Rick pull off a perfect Misa and L (their poses are very convincing). Light (Jan) and Ryuk (Diego) both seem a bit slouched and disinterested, or maybe it’s just my imagination. And Near (Cris) and Mello (Ashley) are looking great in the background.

Beat of the Day: Miracle Paint by Hatsune Miku

 Well, yea…back. Again. To start off, I’m going to do a little ranting about the holidays first, since it’s already Thursday here (in my timezone). Great, school starts next week and I haven’t even done my homework over the break yet, just because I couldn’t concentrate when I feel like there’s so much time left to spare. Then I snap back to reality and realize there’s hardly any more time till the mid-term exams begins. So, here I am now, running against the time for my life, just in the form of double-time working on homework, that is. From the looks of it, I probably may be very inactive over the entire month of January due to exams coming up.

Well, anyway, back to the post. This post is supposed to be yesterday’s but however, I apologize because I didn’t have the time again to write it down. So here it is – Miracle Paint by Hatsune Miku. I find this song unlike all the other Miku songs that I had heard because the rythym/style of the song is different. I have never heard Miku sing a jazz song before so I find it somewhat interesting. This song was featured in Project Diva, as there is another PV of Miku in the game. I really liked this song a lot. I guess it’s because I’m in my school’s Junior Jazz Band (I’m the drummer) that I was influenced to listen to more jazz music or to see/hear professional drummers play.

In any case, I hope you guys enjoy the song just as much as I did.
