[Fame] OST Cover [SuPearl]

2 03 2012

I have not posted anything in the past few days because I have been too obsessively watching the episodes of K-Pop Star, the show that Park Jimin and many other talented young men and women star on. So I decided that I couldn’t contain myself and that I just HAD to share this with everyone.

This is taken from either episode 8 or 9 (I can’t remember which) when all the contenders must form groups in order for casting. Lee Seungjoo (17), Park Jimin (15), Lee Jungmi (17), and Lee Michelle (21) formed a group known as SuPearl and completely astounded all the judges with their cover of Fame by Irene Cara.

Unfortunately, SuPearl was forced to disband right after this performance due to the judges feeling that it would be against the competition rules for the girls to stay together-no matter how amazingly talented they may be. They could still debut though!

Rolling in the Deep [Park Jimin Cover]

26 02 2012

Happy Sunday everyone!

Some of you might have seen this already as her video has gone viral in the past few weeks. In case you haven’t heard of Park Jimin, I’ll fill you in:

On South Korea’s SBS K-Pop Star, a fourteen year old girl named Park Jimin sang a stunning cover of Rolling in the Deep that astounded both the judges and the other contestants. Jimin, who is a full blood Korean, stole the spotlight away from all the other competitors and her name became known internationally. She says that her excellent English comes from attending an international school.

Anime Spotlight: Another

21 02 2012

Hey guys, Night here! Happy Tuesday! Thought I might just share a new interesting anime with you.

One of the newer anime series this winter that started premiering on January 9th. Another is a strictly horror anime that details a certain high school class and the secrets that they would never dare talk about.

General Overview:

In the spring of 1998, Kouichi Sakakibara transfers to Yomiyama Kita Middle School. It doesn’t take him very long to realize that there’s something peculiar about class 3-3. Everyone’s afraid. Of who or what though, he doesn’t know.

While spending some time in the hospital for pneumothorax, Kouichi meets the mysterious but beautiful Mei Misaki, a student who is in the same class as he is. She goes to the basement, saying she must deliver something to her ‘other half’.

When Kouichi and Mei go back to school, Kouichi quickly realizes that no one seems to notice Mei, and no one seems to care about her. He asks his fellow classmates about the girl, but they tell him to stop “hanging out with something that doesn’t exist.”

Kouichi’s about to find out what happened to the class of 3-3. He’s about to find out the truth behind Mei Misaki. First though, he must survive in a world of murder and blood.

“Another” is a different sort of schoolyard horror mystery based on the original novel series.

General Reception:

As ‘Another’ has just premiered, it’s impossible to lay out defined reviews for the series. However, the general anime fandom seems rather satisfied with the series and calls it something that will always ‘keep you guessing’. Granted, the anime starts off with the usual ‘guy moves to weird little town and all these weird things start happening’ (Higurashi much, anyone?), but its Final Destination-esque feel and and brilliant artwork seems to make up for the slight cliches. It is currently ranked as an 8.15/10 on MAL and has a truly strong backing. Perhaps we’ll see this series go somewhere yet.

Film Review: Crows Zero

16 11 2011

Another good film adaptatation from the manga series is Crows Zero. I would dare say that Crows Zero might be on par with Beck Live Action in terms of how well the story is executed although it is a very different story genre.

Crows Zero so far has two series which was released on 2007 and 2009. So, this film is a little bit old and I just watched it the other day and completely amazed. Have you ever watched Fight Club? Well, that film can just eat its shit up compared to this film.

Crows Zero starts with a story in Suzuran High School, which is a school full of delinquents. When I say full delinquents, I don’t mean one or two gangs in school. I mean all the entire students are delinquents and always fighting each other.

Among those delinquents, there is a transfer student named Takiya Genji, who is a son of a Yakuza boss named Takiya Hideo. The reason why Takiya Genji wanted to transfer to Suzuran is so that he can conquer it and be the leader of Suzuran. In order to conquer the school, Genji must defeat the top person in Suzuran, Serizawa Tamao, who may in first impression doesn’t look like a badass delinquent.

So now, Genji’s life of full fighting to conquer Suzuran begins. For you who are searching for a good fist fighting action, Crows Zero is the perfect movie for you. It provides you with violence and blood which is wrapped with wicked fights between students.

However, this movie also offers a bit of friendship and romance which is sweet but not until it ruins the awesomeness of the original intention of the film. I have to say that I will give this film a high recommendation to watch as you will gain an exciting entertainment from it.

Film Review: Sherlock BBC TV Series (2010)

16 10 2011

A quite newly TV series that I’ve been watching is this series on BBC TV. Sherlock, as the name implies, is a story about the popular detective from the same novel adaptation, Sherlock Holmes. He is assisted with John Watson and I supposed I don’t have to describe who he is anymore.

The catch of this TV series is the story of Sherlock Holmes in modern day. So, we could see what Sherlock Holmes brilliant deduction is like when he use modern tools such as internet, mobile phone, or modern biology. It is so interesting to watch this series. I can relate to the story since the plot is close to the world we are living in.

I really think this series has provided with the closest adaptation to the novel version of Sherlock Holmes plus the exciting and relatable storyline. Benedict Cumberbatch plays a brilliant Sherlock Holmes. His attitude and demeanor of a high-functioning sociopath really resembles that is what Sherlock Holmes would be.

Forget about the movie version of Sherlock Holmes which is played by Robert Downey Jr. This series really focus on Sherlock Holmes brilliant deduction, his attitude, and reaction to society. There is no need for excessive action in the film, his demeanor alone can suck up all the atmosphere of the plot and make the story more interesting to watch.

So far, 3 episodes have been broadcasted in 2010 and marks the end of the first season. The second season of this series will be started in early 2012 and I just can’t wait for his next action since the last episode has left me with out of curiosity.

Ouran High School Host Club Live Action

24 09 2011

Well, I have spent a good deal of the past week watching the few episodes of the OHSHC live action that have so far been released. I really have nothing but admiring praise for all the actors and actresses. While they may not look exactly like their anime counterparts (Tamaki certainly doesn’t) their personalities are so similar and they act everything out with so much conviction you can’t help but laugh really hard at the funny moments. Anyways, here’s a video from the first episode with the English version of Sakura Kiss playing in the background. I’ll also introduce you to the cast if you’re not familiar with them.

Suoh Tamaki (Yusuke Yamamoto)

Oootori  Kyouya(Daito Shunsuke)

Fujioka Haruhi (Haruna Kawaguchi)

Hitachiin Kaoru (Takagi Manpei)

Hitachiin Hikaru (Takagi Shinpei)

Haninozuka Mitsukini (Chiba Yudai)

Morinozuka Takashi (Nakamura Masaya)

Nekozawa Umehito (Ryusei Ryo)

Happy Birthday Souza-san!

12 09 2011

Ano…I’m very sorry about not being able to post this earlier. I have only just realized how stressing high school life can be. Anyways, Souza-san, happy birthday from your youngest co-author!

First of all, I must naturally wish you a very happy birthday and hope you have many more to come. Second of all, I want to thank you for allowing me to become a co-author on The Randomness Thing. I’ve never had a place where I could actively share my otaku knowledge and my obsession with anime before, and you’ve provided me-and all the other authors on this blog-a haven for that. It’s been absolutely amazing and beneficial to be able to work with you and each of my other senpais. Third of all, I would like to present you with your birthday present.

As you may know-or maybe not-I do covers of vocaloid and anime songs for fun and post them on youtube. It’s been my tradition to record a song for each of my friends’ birthdays, and Souza-san, you’re no exception. So the song I decided to do is Yume no Tsubasa. A couple months back, I did a duet of the song with Razzyness [another youtube user] but I didn’t like it due to the fact I sound like a 5 year old little girl. I was waiting for the perfect moment to redo this song, and decided that this would be the perfect occassion.

I realize that Yume no Tsubasa is a love song, but I mean this in a friendship like way. It’s also to encourage you onward in the trials that lay ahead. I hope that you’ll excuse me if my voice cracks or if I sound terrible…I honestly tried! Happy Birthday Souza-san!

Character Themes: スターライン (Starline) – Kiyama Hiroto [Inazuma Eleven]

23 08 2011

I just decided to do this for now, so don’t expect it to be permanent…unless you guys like the idea of it. I recently got hooked on the soccer anime Inazuma Eleven, and I can’t stop watching it. Sure, the plot’s really cliche at times and there’s sometimes hardly any logic to the whole thing, but I still love it. I can’t believe I hated soccer before I started watching…

Anyways, the character I’m playing the theme of today is Kiyama Hiroto. He’s one of the supporting characters in Inazuma Eleven. I didn’t choose one of the main characters because they get far too much attention. Anyways, about Hiroto…when he was first introduced in the second season, he appeared to be an antagonist bent on dominating the world with the rest of his soccer team. It turns out though that he was just being used, and that he really does have a sweet heart. The song’s called ‘Starline’ and it’s sung by his voice actor-whose name I forget. Enjoy!

English Translation:

The stars that twinkle in the night, with a strong flickering shine
For that precious smile
I’ll draw out my hopes and become a falling star
Even if it’s an unreliable lonely light
Even if it’s loneliness that might disappear in the pure darkness
Ah, I found the sun in my chest
A dream from my heart I wish to be fulfilled
The stars that twinkle in the night, with a strong and flickering shine
For that precious smile
I’ll draw out my hopes and become a falling star
Yes, one by one they come together and connect
This sky will shine more and more towards an ideal
Ah, each one is part of a constellation
It lets us think that it’s fine for them to be here
Even if we’re separated far apart or if we’re bonded by woeful ties
they can become bright lights
And with that existence, shine forever
I want them to reflect in those bright, bright eyes
I’ll be responding, so I hope you’ll always watch and it reaches you
The stars that twinkle in the night, with a strong and flickering shine
For that precious smile
I’ll draw out my hopes and become a falling star
Even if we’re separated far apart or if we’re bonded by woeful ties
they can become bright lights
And with that existence, shine forever
I’ll draw out my hopes and become a falling star

番の宝物 Ichiban no Takaramono [My Most Precious Treasure]

19 08 2011

Before I put the song along with its video down, I suppose I should tell you why I decided to choose this. So today, I was combing through youtube for some suitable Japanese song that I could cover [yes I sing for fun but that's not important] and while I was scrolling through numerous favorites and play-lists, I happened to look down at my iPod and realize that the last episode of Angel Beats in English had been released. After spending a few minutes in shock, I remembered this one song played back in episode 10 during Yui and Hinata’s confession. I didn’t know what it was called so I spent about ten grueling minutes trying to find it. I finally got the song-Ichiban no Takaramono-and I thought that I should share it with the rest of you guys. Seriously, this song almost always moves me to tears. What was originally supposed to be me on a hunt for a song to cover instead turned into a tribute for the last episode release in English. I love you, Angel Beats!

Durarara!! OP 1 Full: Uragiri no Yuuyake

9 07 2011

I’m starting to really love Durarara! and this song, so I’m going to post this here. Honestly, this is actually one of the really good anime openings that I’ve seen. A lot of others are just somewhat below par. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this song! Uragiri no Yuuyake translates to Treacherous Sunset, and it’s by Theatre BROOK.

Lyrics:

uragiri no yuuyake
yakkai ni karamitsuku ase o
kirisaku you ni shite
mashin wa sakebu utau you ni
A treacherous sunset
Make sure you slash through
This bothersome, entwining sweat
The machine shouts as if singing
blow up louder
mukuchi na yousei wa soko ni iru
blow up louder
tsugunai wa kudaketa ai no kakera
Blow up louder
The silent fairy is there
Blow up louder
Your payment will be pieces of broken love
aa asahi wa noboru
biru no tanima
ima shinjireba kawaru no sa
muimi ja nai ano yume o
Ah, the morning sun rises
Shining between the buildings
If you believe, this meaningful(1) dream
Will change
tabibito wa mou inai
dejavu no you na mainichi o
tokihanatsu you ni
mashin ga kakenukeru yoake
There are no travelers anymore
Every day is like deja vu
It's like a release
When the machine leaps forward from behind
fairyride
akuseru yousei wa fumikonda
fairyride
nuguenai namida o nagasenai mama
Fairyride
Accelerate; the fairy breaks in
Fairyride
Unable to shed un-wipe-able tears
aa asahi wa noboru
yami o nukete
ima kanjireba mieru no sa
muimi ja nai ano ashita
Ah, the morning sun rises
Break through the darkness
If you feel it, you'll be able to see
This meaningful tomorrow
aa asahi wa noboru
suiheisen
ima shinjireba kawaru no sa
muimi ja nai ano hikari
Ah, the morning sun rises
Over the horizon(2)
If you believe, that meaningful light
Will change
aa oretachi ni wa mieteru mono ga aru
kitto dare ni mo ubawarenai mono ga aru hazu sa
imi ga nai to omoeru koto ga aru
kitto demo ito wa soko ni kanarazu aru
muimi ja nai ano ito ga
Ah, there's something we can see, for sure
There must be something that can't be taken
There are things you might think are nonsense, for sure
But there is intention in them
intention that means something(1)
oo asahi wa noboru
yami o nukete
ima kanjireba mieru no sa
muimi ja nai ano ashita
Oh, the morning sun rises
Break through the darkness
If you feel it, you'll be able to see
That meaningful tomorrow
aa asahi wa noboru
suiheisen
ima shinjireba kawaru no sa
muimi ja nai ano hikari
Ah, the morning sun rises
Over the horizon
If you believe, that meaningful light
Will change
