Japanese Amazing March

26 10 2011

So I guess the stereotype of Japanese being organized and robot like is proven, huh? This is a great coordination of a march done by high schoolers which I know I can’t match with my fat body. Watch the second video for the complete march.

番の宝物 Ichiban no Takaramono [My Most Precious Treasure]

19 08 2011

Before I put the song along with its video down, I suppose I should tell you why I decided to choose this. So today, I was combing through youtube for some suitable Japanese song that I could cover [yes I sing for fun but that's not important] and while I was scrolling through numerous favorites and play-lists, I happened to look down at my iPod and realize that the last episode of Angel Beats in English had been released. After spending a few minutes in shock, I remembered this one song played back in episode 10 during Yui and Hinata’s confession. I didn’t know what it was called so I spent about ten grueling minutes trying to find it. I finally got the song-Ichiban no Takaramono-and I thought that I should share it with the rest of you guys. Seriously, this song almost always moves me to tears. What was originally supposed to be me on a hunt for a song to cover instead turned into a tribute for the last episode release in English. I love you, Angel Beats!

Beat of the Day: Gran Turismo Japanese Op – Moon Over The Castle

30 06 2011

Man…so much things have happened ever since I last came back here. Sorry for the lateness guys, I totally forgot to come back and do some more posts – I had originally planned to post again during the weekend after my exams last week but…I don’t know, things happened, I guess.
Lately, I’ve tried to fix an old used tv in my room that I got from my parents so I guess that’s going to take up most of the time. Couldn’t summarize anymore than that.

I don’t really know what to post exactly at the moment but I guess I could just post a short video about one of my most favourite opening themes from video games of all times – Gran Turismo.

The Japanese version of Gran Turismo (GT), ever since the first one – the Psx version (Yes, I do have GT1) all the way to the newest one (GT5), the theme song has never changed since. The creators originally planned to make different themes for each game before but because of the hit popularity of the very first game’s opening, they decided to keep it as the main theme of GT since then. If anyone lives in Japan, when they hear this opening theme, they would probably know this known theme forever.

However, I dislike the  North American version of GT. Instead of keeping this iconic theme, they decided to botch it out in favour of their own hardcore American rock style, which totally sucked and received poor reviews from customers compared to the Japanese version. Not just only the main theme song, even the race music bgm of the original Japanese one changed to the own American version. I also heard that the European version was almost just as bad as well….but then again, this is just my opinion.

Well, I  think I pretty much covered most of the things. If you guys have your own opinion, well, comment on it, I guess.

Oh, before I forget, this post is also dedicated to my older brother the crazy car guy who, uhh, introduced me to this kick ass song and game.

21 06 2011

Decided to start a  new post sires! I dont know if this will be weekly or not, but I will try! I have noticed that there are a lot of posts on songs by artists, and albums they release, but never some about the artist themselves. Ping Pong – Masquerade Variety Show

Have anyone seen this variety show? It’s quite old actually but I still love to see it. It playfully manipulates the perspective of the viewers so we can see a kung-fu-like ping pong match.

Memories of Matsuko Review

28 03 2011

Ah, this film is another masterpiece by Tetsuya Nakashima and this time it’s not a thriller movie. This film is from 2006 and if you guys have watched and actually liked it then good for you. If you haven’t, then how about sit down with me as I tell you about this brilliant movie.

To put it off short, this movie is about a slice of life. At first, you may think that this film is a comedy and overexposed 80′s comedy bits with all the musical thing, but it’s to get you on the atmosphere as the plot story is from that era. Don’t give a quick judgement to this film, although it may be simple, this film holds a very complicated ulterior background. I personally favored this film compared to “Grave of the Fireflies” and my friends called me a person with no soul for that. Sorry guys, it’s just that a Nuclear tragedy film is just hard to be related to my life.

Anyway, let’s get back to the topic. Memories of Matsuko offers you a story about Matsuko Kawajiri (Duh…), who was found dead nearby the river. Sho Kawajiri, her nephew, was asked by his father to clear her apartment up. As he was cleaning her apartment, Sho Kawajiri encounters people who was once passed by Matsuko. Then, the story starts off.

Matsuko’s life has been a sad one. She was once a teacher who got fired because defending a student who stole somebody’s money. When she asked the student to save her, she got completely betrayed. Ah, I just slipped a spoiler there. Let me elegantly stop here and say that for all her life, she has been giving her heart to somebody and was completely betrayed to be left out saying “Why?”.

I personally think Matsuko is a very positive person. Eventhough all the predicaments engulfing her life, she always find a reason to live. And that’s what she calls “love”. She will love anybody unconditionally and willingly go to hell with the one she loves. Why? Because of one simple reason, “I don’t want to be alone”. That simple reason truly is the same reason why I keep on living.

She completely understands me and I personally think, no matter how strong you are and how cool being a tough guy really is, deep down inside all humans don’t want to be left alone. “Life’s value is not counted based on what we received, it’s counted on what we gave” probably one of the best quote this film has to offer. Matsuko Kawajiri has given a lot of meaning in somebody’s else life and although people would say her life is meaningless, it is not so by the people who are affected by her.

In conclusion, this film moves me so much as I would burst into tears just watching how she dealt with her miserable life and always find a reason to live on. Although, there are few occasions that she decided to end her life which ended up her body automatically rejected the idea of doing so. I quote her say “I was sure my life was at the end that moment, but somehow my body won’t let me”. Truly an inspirational movie!

Confessions (Kokuhaku) Review

26 03 2011

This film probably is one of the best film I ever seen in my life. It is directed by Tetsuya Nakashima and this film has a complete package in it: story plot, twist-and-turn storyline, cinematography, and awesome soundtracks. The actors in this film really performed an incredible acting which ties up the atmosphere very well.

Now, I will carefully elaborate what this film is all about without spoiling to much information so you guys won’t be disappointed. The story is about a middle-school teacher who turned cold-blooded avenger because her daughter got killed.

The police declared it was an accident but Yuko Moriguchi, the teacher, strongly believes it was her students. How she knows is elaborated in the movie so let’s skip that. Now, what makes this film so interesting? Turns out after Yuko Moriguchi’s confessions, all hell broke loose. She was devising a revenge plot and when the students hear about it, it was a complete mess.

The film then turns to show the confessions of each individuals that affected by Moriguchi’s daughter murder. It shows the spiraling motive behind the killing and I have to tell you that each and every confessions they make enlighten the story a bit clearer.

The end of story is really dramatic and it will make you wonder how Yuko Moriguchi’s got her revenge. In the end, I would say Moriguchi had a splendid revenge.

Guys, I wish I could spoil you more about this movie, but it will just spoil the fun of watching it. I can’t remember how many times I spout “Shit!”, because the mind-fuck that this film has to offer. This film is a really must see and you will soon see why I said so when you get a chance to see it for yourself.
