It’s the end of Christmas night and I had a fun night. I think it would be the most appropriate to give all of you a christmas special wallpaper pack before Christmas ends. Thank you for all the support that the readers have been given and good job for the co-authors for giving the best they can give for the blog. Merry Christmas!

An additional Touhou Wallpaper Pack to fill the long overdue post without Touhou Wallpaper Pack. As usual, I got this from Konachan in complementing Kaza-kun’s request. Seems there is no complain on the previous wallpaper pack so I hope I don’t screw up this time.

Behold! More posts from Farce at 1 in the morning. I just got off work after a 7 hour shift and had to change a blown tire on the way home at around 11:30 at night. So I’m unwinding and relaxing by making a nice little post here since I haven’t contributed in awhile.
This title music is the same as all of the other games but I enjoy this version a lot more than other ones.
Double Spoiler plays exactly the same way as Shoot the Bullet so for more details on the controls and gameplay see the page I made on that. The main character is Aya Shameimaru, again. The major difference is the levels. I haven’t gotten very far into Double Spoiler or Shoot the Bullet but they are very enjoyable games. They are also extremely difficult, much more so than the other shooters. Mostly recommended for casual gaming since the levels are short and you don’t have to play through series of levels all at one time.
I think I’m going to call it a night right here. I know it was a short post but that wasn’t really much to say about it other than that it’s an addition to Shoot the Bullet, somewhat. I’m tired and my legs are sore. Goodnight (or morning as the case may be).
It’s time for another wallpaper pack on the dock and another Touhou series. I collect this two days ago and keep forgetting to upload it. So, without further a do, please enjoy the wallpapers.

Behold! I have finally returned with a new post. I would have put this up sooner but I just started my new job and it’s been murder on my schedule lately.
Today’s post is one that I have long been awaiting. It Touhou 10.5 Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, one of the handful of fighting games which was co-produced by Tasogare Frontier. This also has one of my favorite title themes, second only to the patch later released for this game which is another game in itself.
The plot to this game is a standard incident in the world of Gensokyo but it plays out differently depending on which character is chosen, and there are a lot of playable characters, including two new ones to the Touhou universe. The weather lately has been highly unusual and never stays the same for more than a while at a time. It can be sunny one minute, rainy the next, and then hail a little later or something along those lines. This causes several residents of Gensokyo to act and try to solve the incident. Reimu’s case is especially vengeful as her shrine has been destroyed by a highly localized but very strong earthquake that effected only her shrine and nothing else. Depending on which character is chosen the characters that you fight along the way change, but the last three are always the same.
Somewhere along the line the heroine deduces that the problem lies in the heavens where the celestials live. The only way to get there though is to climb the tengu’s mountain and Aya Shameimaru isn’t too inclined to let anyone trespass upon her territory. After trumping Aya and making her way into the clouds it is there that the messenger of the gods, Iku Nagae is encountered. She issues a warning that there will be a massive earthquake that threatens to destroy most if not all of Gensokyo. Assuming that the problem is Iku our heroine beats her down but finds she is not the problem and that the real solution lies higher up. A small ways further Tenshi Hinanai is encountered and found to be the root of all the problems. She has been gathering energy from the hearts of everyone in Gensokyo which has been causing the strange weather, but her real goal is to create a large earthquake. Why? She simply wanted to enjoy fighting with the residents of Gensokyo like she has observed everyone else doing down on the ground. She is taken down and the problem is resolved.
Enough about the story, now on to the game mechanics. There are two main types of attacks that can be done. Physical attacks and two different branches of ranged attacks, weak and strong ones. Dashes can be executed to graze past projectiles. There is still a spell card system put in place, though it is more in depth. The more powerful a spell is the more cards are needed to use it. A deck can also be customized to have different cards in it, though it is limited to 20 maximum. The music in the game is good but not great. There are at least 7 tracks that are basically the same but just slightly remixed from the original and will tend to get on your nerves as it did mine. All in all it’s a great game. I’ll leave you off with a list of playable characters and will pick up with Subterranean Animism at a later date.

On to the main topic though, the new post. The next game in the series is Touhou Fuujinroku – Mountain of Faith, and yes I memorized the romanji names for the Touhou games.
After playing through this the first time I noticed that it was really easy compared to the rest, especially Perfect Cherry Blossom. There are also a handful of changes that were made to this game, most of which I didn’t like too much. The first one is the Bomb system which doesn’t have bombs anymore. Instead you can use a “bomb” at the cost of one power level. The bombs don’t even clear off all the bullets and only lasts for a few seconds compared to ones from older games which could last somewhere around a dozen or so seconds. The second change is the way the character shoots and how they power up. Instead of adding more bullets, you get “options” which are little orbs or some such that will stay near your character and shoot depending on the mode chosen. Options are limited to 4. There are only 2 characters as well, Marisa and Reimu.
Now for the story. Faith in Gensokyo is ever decreasing and Reimu isn’t too pleased about it. In an effort to find an answer she departs for the Youkai Mountain. The first obstacle encountered is the Aki Sisters, Shizuha and Minoriko, who are the gods of harvest. They warn Reimu of the dangers ahead, but are ignored and beat down because Reimu is Reimu. A little further along the way she meets Hina Kagiyama who has complete control of misfortune and for some reason is usually seen spinning. She also issues Reimu a warning and attempts to chase her off but is beat down instead. As our heroine presses onward she happens to stumble upon everyone’s favorite inventive kappa, Nitori Kawashiro. Again, a warning is issued but is completely ignored and a beatdown ensues. Nitori submits and points her upstream towards a waterfall. After encountering and smacking Inubashiri Momiji up a bit Aya Shameimaru joins in for a little fun. She was sent to investigate by the tengu society but also falls victim to Reimu.
Reimu proceeds onwards to the Moriya shrine which was set up only recently. It was brought from the outside world along with a lake. Sanae Kochiya, the rival shrine maiden, swore to collect all the faith in Gensokyo for her god, Yasaka Kanako. Sanae puts up a strong fight but stands no chance. Reimu moves around to the back of the shrine where the lake is and meets with Kanako and demands she cease her actions at once. She, of course, declines and a maginificent battles commences. She eventually falls as well, without surprise.
After carrying about her days as usual, sweeping and sipping tea, rumor spreads to Reimu that there is another god at the Moriya Shrine. Reimu again sets out to see if this is true. Kanako intercepts her again and tries to chase her off to no avail. Upon reaching the inner sanctum of the shrine they find Suwako Moriya. She demands that Reimu play with her the same way she did with Sanae and Kanako – with danmaku.
All in all, I have to say it’s decent but I much prefer the other games, even Phantasmagoria of Flower View. The next post will be much better and is the first game I ever owned from the Touhou series. Touhou 10.5 – Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. I’ll have that up in the next few days.
Holy crap, has it been awhile. Two weeks? Something like that. Sorry for the delay but I’ll be picking this back up again and making up for the lack of posts. I had a lot of crap I had to sort and get out of the way and make my life a whole lot more easy. But on to the good stuff.
Shoot the Bullet is the nine and-a-half(th) game in the Touhou and was meant to be a tie in to a print work called Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, but that’s not important for now. Shoot the Bullet is probably the most unique danmaku game to come into existence, at least as far as I have seen. There is only one playable character in this game, Aya Shameimaru. She also doesn’t shoot at all. Instead the point of the game is to take photos of the bosses and their fantastic bullet patterns. Aya’s reasoning behind not shooting is that she “doesn’t want her bullets in the picture.” This puts a whole different twist on the game when it comes to just straight up dodge and shoot. Instead Aya has other techniques like film reloading and defensive shots that go above the typical games.
The gameplay itself is very unique. Aya has three different movement speeds and three different “shot” modes. For starters, Aya has a faster than average movement speed when in a standard non-focused mode. She also has a focus mode and a charge mode. Before Aya can do anything her camera must be charged to 100%. After that there are many different things that can be done. Aya can either take a picture of the boss or of enemies and bullets surrounding her to clear them out. Any picture that doesn’t include a boss is considered a failure and is discarded but will still grant point bonuses. In order to clear a stage a certain number of successful photos must be taken. The game also feature 10 stages and an extra stage and they all have multiple scenes that must be completed to unlock further stages.
This game also doesn’t really have a plot that I could find. Nobody knows the purpose of the pictures except for Aya. I personally suspect that she uses them in her popular Bunbunmaru Newspaper.
On a side note, all of the music from this game is fantastic.
I just now found out today just how hard these games really are. I downloaded Perfect Cherry Blossom and couldn’t even complete easy mode. I got really close though. Yuyuko ended up killing me but Youmu took off all but one of my lives. Freaking Youmu… Fun games though. I’ll have to try again tomorrow. Also, the Prismriver Sister are really really hard.
But anyway, today is Touhou 9: Phantasmagoria of Flower View. And I noticed a strange thing about the title theme for all of the danmaku games. They all share the same title theme, just slightly remixed. And all the music is much better when in game as it embodies the mood of the game itself.
Phantasmagoria of Flower View is really annoying to type out so I’ll be abbreviating it from here in. PoFV is different than the other Touhou games in that it is a VS style game where two equally matched opponents try to shoot each other to death. It resembles Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream the most of the other Touhou games.
The plot behind this game reminds me of Perfect Cherry Blossom, mostly because it’s the exact opposite of it. This spring there are an unusually large number of flowers and fairies roaming about. The player can choose from 16 characters and must battle their way through 9 very difficult stages. I say this from first hand experience. These games are HARD!
Reimu Hakurei was alarmed when she noticed the flowers everywhere and quickly went out looking for answers, thinking that not only was it her duty but that if she didn’t people might think she was neglectful. Marisa Kirisame on the other hand noticed the oddness of the out of season flowers, but didn’t seem to think too deeply into it at first. Instead she sets out to find who’s behind it all simply because she wants to and, more importantly, so she can be the first to find out what’s happening. Sakuya Izayoi also began searching for answers, but again more out of curiosity than from any sense of danger. Youmu Konpaku looked for answers while admiring the scenery, but without any clue where to start all she could do was wander as well. What she did notice were the ghosts hanging around the flowers, which most of the other heroines paid no attention to. Reisen Udongein Inaba didn’t sense any need to be worried about the flowers, but checked them out anyways. While she was at it she also looked for Tewi Inaba who had left without saying anything. Tewi was so excited about the flowers everywhere that she just forgot to say where she was going. Cirno at first appeared to be, basically, an idiot, but at closer look she actually realized not only that there was something strange about the flowers early on but also that a similar event happened 60 years ago before anyone else figured that part out (even characters that had been around 60 years ago). Maybe that has something to do with being a fairy, since all the fairies were becoming more active because of the flowers. She just doesn’t seem to care about why it’s happening, and instead chose to enjoy herself while she can between bumping into the other heroines. The only thing Lyrica Prismriver is interested in is finding a good place for a solo performance and to find new sounds to use. Poor Lyrica just keeps bumping into weird people while looking for a place to play until she gets more and more lost. Like Lyrica, Mystia Lorelei just wants to make music during the whole event, literally singing her way into every encounter. This time even Cirno makes Mystia look a bit “slow” in their encounter. Aya Shameimaru knows a big scoop when she sees one. With all the flowers blooming at once she was sure there’d be something newsworthy around, but what was even more interesting were all the ghosts showing up. Everyone was so focused on the flowers that hardly anyone even noticed those ghosts at first. Yuka Kazami, being a Youkai that’s been around for a long time, knew exactly what was happening when this incident started. Of course being the youkai of flowers helped too, but unfortunately that also put her straight at the top of everyone’s suspect list when they found her enjoying the flowers. Meanwhile Medicine Melancholy had no interest in finding out what was happening, but rather used this opportunity to defeat whoever she came across with poisonous flowers.
It didn’t take long before the heroines ran into each other one after another. Each of them demanded answers from the others about what was going on, but few had any real information. Finally we got to Komachi Onozuka who, as it turned out, is the primary cause for the event. Of course it’s not like any of the heroines knew it, they just wandered anywhere they saw flowers blooming until they reached the Higanbana field where Komachi was. It seemed that Komachi was such a slacker that everyone in Gensokyo noticed the flowers except her. The flowers were being possessed by ghosts which were waiting to cross over to Higan and it was Komachi’s job to get them there, a job she had neglected. 60 years ago (1945, the end of World War II) there had been another flower incident like this because of the sudden large number of ghosts needing to be ferried across to Higan. It can be assumed Komachi was slacking back then too.
After a brief battle with her, Sikieiki Yamaxanadu (the judge of the dead and Komachi’s boss) showed up to give Komachi a scolding for slacking so much. However, before the heroine could leave, Sikieiki saw a perfect opportunity to lecture her on whatever various faults each heroine has, which somehow turned into a danmaku battle to prove the point.
Long post is loooong. Tomorrow will be Touhou 9.5: Shoot the Bullet, which features some of my most absolute favorite music. And hopefully I’ll be able to beat Perfect Cherry Blossom. Marisa Kirisame for the win.
Hey, today I’m going to give you another wallpaper pack that I personally selected. So, for today’s wallpaper pack, I’m going with miko girl, which you might know is girls wearing Shinto uniform. I also included girls wearing kimono because it fits with the miko girl theme. As you might know, I love cute girls which also reveal her cool and tough side in the same time and I hope you also get the vibe with the wallpaper pack I set up. Anyway, without much far a do, enjoy these wallpapers and have a nice weekend, guys.
