Luka was developed to be bilingual and sing in both English and Japanese in an attempt to break and meld the cultural barriers. She was released fairly recently, just on January 30th of last year. She was designed by Kei who has also done the designs for both Hatsune Miku and the Kagamine Twins. Her name is rather unusual, aside from Megurine. Megurine is a combination of the words meguri (circulate/around) and ne (sound, but who didn’t see that coming). Luka invokes the homonymous Japanese words nagare (flow) and ka (song/scent). Don’t ask me how it works, because I really couldn’t tell you if I tried. Her name is supposed to imply that he songs are meant for all peoples.
Luka’s popularity took off only a few days after her release. In that short time some of her songs had knocked other long time running popular songs completely off the charts, including songs by Ryo and Supercell (not including Melt).
There’s been one thing about Luka that has bothered me for some time, and that is a fan made version of her that I find to be quite disturbing, called Takoluka. It’s basically Luka’s head with tentacles instead of hair. Although it’s not nearly as disturbing as leg-hair Miku-head, it’s still freaky.
Sorry for the short post, but I’m tired, I’m still sore, I have school again tomorrow, and there wasn’t much information available. I do have another wallpaper to maybe make up for it. Here you go, guys.
