Singapore Landmark in Surabaya: The Biggest Hypocritical Argument to Preserve Indonesian Pride

The picture on the left here is not the Singapore landmark statue. However, it is an exact replication of the original statue which situated in Citraland, Surabaya. I personally have no problem with this statue erected in Indonesia since it’s just the same as making a replica of Paris Tower in the United States.

However, I’m appalled by the lack of response that those overzealous people who accused Malaysia as a culture stealer. How about this guys? Isn’t this worse since you blatantly steal tangible product from other country’s landmark?

I remember when the news about the Obama Statue erection in Menteng park that got overly reacted by the people who deemed this would be an insult to the nation’s dignity. What about now? Where are these so-called nation pride guardian?

It’s just ludicrous that when it comes other people who steal from us, we got so angry and blindly accuse all the blames on one country. However, we don’t want to apologize if we are stealing from other people. Well, I guess I made my point clear as to how shameful this is.

  1. Well spotted. I always thought that place up near ancol looked an awful lot like Disneyland but what the hey. Imitation is just another form of flattery.

  2. I personally don’t have any objection with this statue. I just hate when people bark other people because they steal their culture while they put a blind eye about the same action done by their own kind. Embarrassing.
