Tiger & Bunny (First Look)

Sternbild City is home to people called “Next,” who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire “hero points.” Their activities are documented on the popular program “Hero TV,” which picks the “King of Heroes” in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he’s been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero.

In this anime Heroes are Commodities, and companies owns them for the sake of earning profit. This really contradicts with the old Superhero archetype. But this is what makes this show interesting. Despite being stuffed with Product Placement advertising by “Real” Companies, but that only shows how Superheroes “work” in this anime.

It’s now on it’s 2nd episode ,reliving the old Saturday Morning Cartoon feel with a twists. Sunrise really has made a potential gem with this anime. and I can’t wait to see all the “Heroes” work things out together . They’re actually starting to make good Non-mecha animes.

Don’t be fooled by the title. XD

  1. Very nice start review. Its really dose re-create the “Saturday Morning Cartoon” feel for sure. I’m quite happy with that feel, and look forward to watch more for sure.

And side note: Think the tie-in with Pepsi is Gold, bring real-life sponsors into a show. Wonder how much there getting for that?

    • I’m thinking as much as the animation quality won’t suffer because there won’t be a lack of budget.

All the product placements are GOLD honestly.

Wild Tiger = S.H. Figuarts and Softbank
Barnaby Brooks = Bandai AND CRUSADE Card System series
Sky High = Tamashii Nations and Ustream.tv
Dragon Kid = Calbee and DMM.com
      Origami Cyclone = .ANIME
      Blue Rose = Pepsi NEX
      Rock Bison = Gyu-Kaku
Fire Emblem = FMV (Fujitsu Multimedia Vision)
