Review: Dengeki Daisy

Dengeki Daisy is a Shõjo romantic comedy manga by Kyousuke Motomi. First release: October 26th, 2007.  *Spoiler warning!!*

The story is about Teru Kurebayashi, a 16 year old girl. When her brother died, she was left alone with only a cellphone. This cellphone holds a text-address with the name “DAISY”. Her brother told her that DAISY will support her when he is no longer able to. DAISY becomes Teru’s pillar of strength. When she couldn’t take it anymore, DAISY would sent her encouraging words through mails.

On one day, in the afternoon, after bullies from the student council are mysteriously driven away, Teru breaks a school window. The school found it out and she need to work with the grouchy, cruel school janitor. His name is Tasuku Kurosaki. As Teru begins working for the unlikable school janitor, her feelings begin to surpass that of master and servant. She begins to question DAISY’s true identity. Could Kurosaki be her beloved DAISY? Meanwhile, Kurosaki is finding himself steadily drawn to Teru.


Teru Kurebayashi;
Teru is 16 years old and lives alone after her brother died. He gave her only a cellphone. This phone will connect Teru to DAISY. She never met him face-to-face, but she still trust him. After breaking a school window, she is forced to work with Tasuku. Tasuku calls her “servant” and he is the “master”. Teru really dislikes him but later in the manga her feelings grow into something romantic. After some event that happen in the manga, she becomes suspicious that Kurosaki is DAISY. But she is also afraid about what would happen once the truth about DAISY and how he was involved with her brother comes out.

Tasuku Kurosaki;
A 24 year old young man working as the school janitor. Despite his unpleasant attitude, he cares deeply for Teru. Acting toward her with genuine kindness and is extremely protective of her. Teru is  unaware that Kurosaki is also DAISY. DAISY is a computer hacker who worked with her brother (Souichirou) and has been entrusted with looking after her. He is described by Teru’s friends to be very attractive, though he does not generally display his emotions. But he has strong romantic feelings for Teru. Kurosaki has made it his mission to care for Teru on the request of his dying friend. Though recently he has chosen to protect her as his true self also. Despite his strong feelings for her, Kurosaki believes that he has no right to love Teru as he is “the one that led her brother to his death.”

I really like this manga. Teru has so many questions about DAISY and her brother, that I also started to believe everything her brother told her was a lie. Kurosaki always watch her, but because Teru always make trouble, Kurosaki needs to rescue her everytime. I always laugh about Teru and Kurosaki because she calls him a pervert and lolicon! I hope they will make an anime! Enjoy the manga ^3^/
